Boulder, Colorado, United States Infleqtion Full time

Infleqtion is a cutting-edge technology company that solves the world's most challenging problems using quantum technology. Our mission is to commercialize atom-based quantum products that provide orders of magnitude improvements in sensing and computing applications.

We are seeking an experienced Laser Engineer with a strong foundation in laser design, characterization, and system support. The ideal candidate will have fundamental knowledge of optics and product development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description:

This role involves hands-on operations, maintenance, and optimization of high-performing laser systems needed for critical-path execution of the development of quantum computing and sensing portfolios. The individual will ensure the availability of critical light for these development activities through the maturation and innovation of hardware, software, and operation procedures associated with these laser systems.

The successful candidate will collaborate with physicists and optical, electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers to support all aspects of laser sub-systems' development and operation. This includes synthesizing sub-system level requirements, modeling, designing, assembling, and testing advanced laser systems across the company's product lines.

The job also requires managing and advancing relationships with external laser vendors, analyzing and validating laser system performance, and supporting the development of content for proposals to external and internal customers.

Requirements:
  • Masters degree in atomic physics, optical physics, or other relevant engineering field and at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in integrating complex hardware and software into systems, laser systems, laser noise characterization and analysis methodology, and scientific programming and/or software engineering.
  • Fundamental understanding of laser beams and reflective and refractive optics design, including laser-induced damage mechanisms and damage mitigation strategies.
