Job Description

We are a podiatry office seeking a medical support specialist to join our team. As a medical support specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Intake: Verify patient history, including surgery, medical, medication, allergy, and social information.
  • Medical Support: Assist with small surgical procedures, fit patients for proper DME items, and communicate with patients about their deductible before services are performed.
  • Orthotics and DME: Scan for orthotics, receive and prepare orthotic scripts, and call patients to pick up their orthotics.
  • Instrument Sterilization: Sterilize all used instruments and prepare surgical gauze packs.
  • Supply Management: Order medical and retail supplies, and maintain stock levels.
  • Insurance and Authorization: Verify insurance requirements for MRIs, orthotics, and other procedures, and authorize/precertify as needed.
  • Patient Education: Ensure all education forms are copied and in the patient care rooms.
  • X-ray and Laser Treatments: Take X-rays and perform laser pain treatments while maintaining patient safety.
  • Communication: Communicate with patients regarding patient refills, and maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
  • Office Maintenance: Clean patient rooms between each patient, maintain stock of soap dispensers, and rotate kitchen duty with the front desk/assistants.
  • Phone and Voicemail: Assist with phone calls when staff is away or at break times, and check voicemails daily.
Office Hours and Benefits:
  • Office Hours: Monday-Thursday: 8AM - 5PM, Friday: 7:30AM-2:00PM.

Requirements:
  • Medical Experience: Previous experience in a medical setting, preferably in podiatry.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
