Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in performing department-specific protocols.
  • Organize and prioritize examinations, coordinating with medical personnel, physician offices, and patients.
  • Prepare for procedures by verifying patient identity, educating patients and families, and ensuring safe transport. Conduct ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols, ensuring patient comfort and safety while achieving high-quality results.
  • Mentor fellow caregivers and students on equipment usage and procedural techniques.
  • After examinations, ensure patient stability and safety during their return to the room.
  • Throughout the process, assess patient needs and effectively communicate and coordinate care with physicians, other caregivers, patients, and families.
  • Accurately document examination results and related information, ensuring proper billing for services and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment and workspaces, managing supply inventory and coordinating repairs as necessary. Support team initiatives aimed at quality improvement.
  • Engage in educational opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge, providing training for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Certification from ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI in cardiac or vascular sonography.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
  • One of the following national registry credentials through ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI relevant to the department: Medical sonography, vascular technology, adult echo, adult congenital echo, or pediatric echo.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, with verification of education.

Physical Demands:

  • Continuous need to see and interpret information, labels, and patient needs, as well as operate monitors and identify equipment.
  • Frequent communication with patients and care providers, requiring clear verbal communication and the ability to quickly understand spoken information, especially in emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to operate complex equipment with precision, including frequent computer use for documentation and information access.
  • Ability to lift and move patients, as well as retrieve and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights.
  • Expected to assist in transporting patients and managing equipment, often in busy environments.
  • May require standing for extended periods.
