POSITION OVERVIEW

The Seasonal Aquatic Safety Officer is entrusted with ensuring the well-being of individuals utilizing the aquatic facilities and adjacent areas. This role involves acting as the primary responder during emergencies and delivering exceptional customer service to all patrons, participants, and visitors. Adherence to all municipal and facility regulations is essential, alongside participation in ongoing training sessions. Responsibilities also include performing various maintenance tasks related to the pool, such as monitoring water quality and assessing the functionality of mechanical systems. Accurate documentation and reporting are required as part of the role.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and currently pursuing a high school diploma or its equivalent. Valid certifications in Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross are mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Thorough knowledge of all necessary certifications and their updates
  • Proficient communication and public relations skills
  • Capability to walk, stand, kneel, climb, sit, and swim for extended durations
  • Ability to lift weights up to 75 lbs
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position demands moderate physical activity, requiring the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly for moving objects. The following physical capabilities are also essential: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.

Successful candidates must complete a background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. Additional evaluations, such as a motor vehicle record check and a job-related medical examination, may be necessary. Positions classified as safety-sensitive are subject to random drug and alcohol testing post-hire.
