Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Underground Utilities Supervisor to oversee underground utility projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in horizontal directional drilling and utility location, along with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading a variety of manual tasks in support of telecommunications infrastructure development.
  • Executing physically demanding work on roadways and heavy civil construction sites to prepare areas for telecommunications installations.
  • Interpreting blueprints and specifications to ensure project accuracy as outlined by stakeholders.
  • Planning construction methods based on project timelines and specifications.
  • Identifying underground utilities and submitting locate requests to mitigate hazards during installation.
  • Providing regular updates, addressing damages, and reporting daily progress to project management.
  • Excavating trenches, backfilling, and compacting earth to meet specified grades using various tools and equipment.
  • Utilizing hand and power tools to maintain clean and secure job sites, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Documenting daily activities and maintaining work logs for supervisory review.
  • Measuring distances, setting elevations, and installing piping according to project specifications.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Coordinating the procurement of materials and equipment to align with project schedules.
  • Effectively managing multiple priorities with attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to resolve construction-related issues and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring ongoing work to ensure compliance with specifications, schedules, and safety standards.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders to relay project information accurately.
  • Adapting to various weather conditions and working environments.
  • Supervising laborers and operators, assigning tasks to ensure project completion as per specifications.
  • Enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with project safety programs.
Qualifications

Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL.

Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to meet company insurance requirements.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent; or a combination of education and relevant experience.

A minimum of 4 years of experience in a supervisory role or equivalent.

Skills

Ability to read and understand basic instructions and correspondence. Capable of writing clear communications. Proficient in presenting information effectively in both individual and small group settings.

Mathematical Proficiency

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and understand measurements related to construction tasks.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions and address problems with multiple variables.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position require regular use of hands and arms for operating equipment, as well as frequent lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.

Work Environment

Employees may encounter moving machinery, fumes, and various weather conditions while performing their duties.
