Position Overview

The role of the Medical Office Receptionist is pivotal in ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and managing the intake process efficiently. This position encompasses a variety of clerical and organizational responsibilities, including appointment scheduling and supporting staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule appointments for providers, ensuring optimal patient satisfaction and efficient use of examination and treatment facilities.
  • Process co-pays and other payments from patients.
  • Reconcile payment receipts generated from the electronic health record system with cash on hand at the end of each shift.
  • Collect necessary identification and information from patients prior to their appointments.
  • Retrieve and organize patient files, ensuring all paperwork is in order for physician review.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
  • Assist patients with insurance documentation and billing inquiries.
  • Provide support to patients in distress, including arranging transportation when necessary and participating in emergency protocols as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a medical front desk role or administrative position.
  • Required: 1 year of customer service experience.
