Job Description

Job Summary:

HotRun Inc. is seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for designing and developing precision tooling for our injection molding processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between HotRun Inc. and tooling vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality tooling.
  • Develop and implement a proactive tooling maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
  • Supervise and coordinate mold technician activities, including setup, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Supervise and train in-house tool room activities to support manufacturing, including quality, maintenance, and production departments.
  • Monitor mold component inventory and replenish as needed to ensure 100% cavitation on production runs.
  • Monitor mold function and service records to identify areas for improvement and implement modifications to enhance mold reliability and part quality.
  • Project manage new mold/product projects, including specifying and soliciting quotations, placement, and follow-up.
  • Monitor assigned budget for department activities and ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Supervise CAD/Tool technician activities to revise and update mold drawings and component inspection.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must have completed a tool and die or mold maker apprenticeship or equivalent work history with technical studies.
  • Minimum five years of experience in injection mold, mold start-up, debugging, and repair processes, preferably with high cavitation, hot runner systems, continuous threaded closures, tight tolerance (pharmaceutical/food industry), unscrewing molds, and thin wall cylinders.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience.
  • Possess written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess functional knowledge of production and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interface with Engineering and outside vendors to build new molds and troubleshoot existing tooling.
  • Strong computer experience with Excel, Word, etc.
  • Able to interpret blueprints to components.
  • Capable of working extended work weeks or weekends.
  • Capable of traveling on company business.
  • Negative drug screen results.
