At Huntington Ingalls Industries, we are seeking a skilled Master Tradesperson 2 to join our team. As a Master Tradesperson 2, you will be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying equipment. You will work with the RCOH Elevator Support Unit to support the refit and fleet modernization of the Aircraft elevator by working on mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Installs, operates, maintains, repairs, and modifies equipment.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
- Installs, upgrades, and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
- Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
- May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
- Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- May assist in the development and use of technical documents.
- High School diploma or Trade School or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
- Must have knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical systems and its associated equipment.
- Must be able to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
- Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
- Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
- Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program, or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
- Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance.
- OSHA 10 Maritime Certification is a plus.
- Previous knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes.
- Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
- Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
- May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
- May require wearing a respirator.
