Lead Property Valuation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Property Valuation Specialist to join our team in Medford, MA.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is estimated to be between $110,000 and $130,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Job DescriptionThe Lead Property Valuation Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the appraisal analysis necessary to annually produce new assessed values for all types of real and personal property in accordance with state and local statutes and regulations. This includes:
- Implementing a cyclical property re-inspection program and preparing quinquennial certification of property values for the State Department of Revenue.
- Meeting with taxpayers and their representatives concerning questions of valuation, assessment, abatement and exemption, and policy.
- Representing the Assessor Board at hearings before the Appellate Tax Board, District and Superior Courts.
- Assessing and administering motor vehicle excise tax programs.
- Preparing all statistical analyses, reports, and forms required to carry out the duties of the Assessing Department, including preparation of reports and forms associated with setting the annual tax rate in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, and at least five years of progressive responsibility experience as an assessor or property appraiser or in a related field. Massachusetts Assessor Certification (MAA, RMS, CMA) or completion of assessing courses offered by the Massachusetts Association of Assessors or International Association of Assessing Officers is also preferred.
