Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager at Worthington Steel Co. is responsible for overseeing the activities of skilled and unskilled maintenance teams, ensuring the effective management of repair parts inventory, and implementing a proactive, preventative maintenance program.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct, oversee, plan, and schedule maintenance activities, reviewing and prioritizing project execution through a work order system.
- Procure repair/replacement parts and components, reviewing and monitoring utility and repair costs for the facility.
- Implement preventive maintenance procedures, keeping records, and improving equipment uptime using preventative and predictive measures such as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared scanning.
- Perform normal supervisory duties, including selection, development, discipline, and communications, preparing and presenting employee performance reviews, identifying and providing necessary training for maintenance employees.
- Ensure safety policies are followed by all employees, tracking and documenting maintenance activity and time allotment, communicating with the engineering department regarding upcoming engineering projects, and meeting with service providers to create reliable and responsive relationships.
- Prepare maintenance Capital Appropriation Requests (C.A.R.s) and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (C.I.) and cost reduction projects.
- Eliminate unsafe conditions and foster safe working behaviors, identifying development opportunities for direct reports and providing skills training.
Requirements
- 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a reliability or maintenance setting in manufacturing.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs, proven experience as an industrial safety leader, and competent use of Microsoft Office programs and experience with SAP.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System, ability to adjust on the fly to changing priorities, manage multiple priorities, and possess mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of safety alarm systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, machine shop, welding, power train, schematics, and print reading.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills, employee selection, development, performance management, discipline, and leadership.
- Strong ability to prioritize/delegate and possess strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Project, and CMMS.
