Job Summary

This position is part of the behavioral health team at Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and diagnosing patients with mental illness, making independent decisions about advanced practice clinical needs, and collaborating with psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough interviews with patients to determine the basis of their condition
Develop and implement care plans to manage acute and chronic mental illness
Make referrals to internal disciplines and external resources as needed
Prescribe medications in collaboration with psychiatrists or primary care providers
Monitor patient medication use and document treatment results
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Supervise healthcare students as assigned
Provide clear communication to patients, guardians, and employees

Requirements

Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice or multistate license
Valid license as a Certified Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Psychiatric/Mental Health
Graduate of an accredited advanced practice nursing program
Current National Nurse Practitioner certification with a specialty in Psychiatry/Mental Health
One year of experience in a clinic setting, preferred

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
