We are seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to join our team at Davenport Community Schools. As a Substitute Nurse, you will be responsible for providing medical care and support to students and staff in our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical care and support to students and staff, including administering first aid and dispensing medications.
- Act as a liaison between parents, school personnel, physicians, and agencies in school medical matters.
- Assume responsibility for the immediate care of students or staff members who have suffered injury or emergency illness.
- Participate in in-service training programs as required for substitute nurses.
- Dispense medications and keep accurate records regarding medications.
- Utilize individual and Emergency health care plans for students with special health care needs.
- Notify staff of students with special health conditions and needs.
- Assist with completing communicable disease report to SCHD during coverage period.
- Communicate with school nurse as needed to maintain continuity of care.
- RN License Required
- Current certification in CPR for Health Professionals
- Ability to physically lift 50lbs, bend, stoop, push/pull, walk, twist, and kneel
- Knowledge of Iowa Nurse Delegation grid
- Knowledge of HIPPA/FERPA laws
- Computer skills required to input and gather data in Infinite Campus, Ability to use Microsoft Outlook
The Substitute Nurse will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, staff, and parents. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
