Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to join our team at Davenport Community Schools. As a Substitute Nurse, you will be responsible for providing medical care and support to students and staff in our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care and support to students and staff in our schools
  • Act as a liaison between parents, school personnel, physicians, and agencies in school medical matters
  • Assume responsibility for the immediate care of students or staff members who have suffered injury or emergency illness
  • Administer first aid in accordance with established procedures when necessary
  • Dispense medications and keep accurate records regarding medications
  • Utilize individual and Emergency health care plans for students with special health care needs
  • Notify staff of students with special health conditions and needs
  • Assist with completing communicable disease reports to the local health department
  • Communicate with the school nurse as needed to maintain continuity of care
Requirements
  • RN License Required
  • Current certification in CPR for Health Professionals
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs
  • Ability to physically lift 50lbs, bend, stoop, push/pull, walk, twist, and kneel
  • Knowledge of Iowa Nurse Delegation grid
  • Knowledge of HIPAA/FERPA laws
  • Computer skills required to input and gather data in Infinite Campus
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
