Position Overview:

Manage the financial reporting of domestic energy production, conduct monthly revenue variance assessments, and reconcile associated receivables and payables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare and document monthly energy production revenues, royalties, deductions, and taxes for designated fields with minimal oversight.
  • Oversee master data configurations and troubleshoot ERP system alerts with necessary support.
  • Comprehend energy facility statements, ensuring correct recording of fees and adjustments in alignment with marketing agreements.
  • Evaluate cash applications for designated properties.
  • Reconcile and address outstanding receivable and payable balances for assigned properties.
  • Conduct revenue variance assessments and clarify fluctuations, demonstrating an understanding of volumetric and value calculations for assigned properties.
  • Prepare monthly accrual journal entries.
  • Generate monthly transportation payment requests (check, ACH, wire).
  • Exhibit exceptional data management skills, including advanced spreadsheet capabilities with minimal guidance.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of the accounting processes for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure robust internal controls are established to verify the accuracy of deliverables.
  • Capable of fulfilling ad-hoc requests alongside regular duties.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in energy revenue accounting.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition standards.
  • Familiarity with the integration of revenue valuation with land/division orders, marketing, production, and regulatory accounting.
  • Understanding of the application of transportation and POP fees in revenue calculations.
  • Awareness of the interdependencies among accounting departments and fundamentals of the energy sector.
  • Ability to document procedural guidelines.
  • Recognize internal controls relevant to the area of responsibility to ensure work accuracy.
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to present complex operational information in a clear and organized manner.
  • Proficient in the use of the following software:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
    • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Analysis for Office.
    • Experience with SAP PRA Accounting software.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution in accounting or a related field.
