Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in the care of patients in a clinic setting, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with patients to gather information and accurately document their medical history, chief complaint, and present illness.
  • Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect during their visit and provide clear instructions on any procedures or treatments.
  • Initiate and perform diagnostic tests and procedures, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry, to assist physicians in making informed decisions.
  • Accurately record all information in our electronic medical records system, adhering to established standards and physician requirements.
  • Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Educate patients on the administration of medications, pre and post-operative instructions, and other relevant information, as directed by physicians.
  • Readily scribe for physicians, providing accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and medical information.
  • Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA requirements.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications, staying current with the latest technologies and medications.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
