Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) plays a vital role in providing patient care, clinical consultation, and staff education within the Department of Nursing at Cook County Health. This position requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and mentor nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care and clinical consultation within an area of clinical expertise.
  • Mentors nursing staff to support transition from novice to expert nursing practice.
  • Educates patients and staff on various topics to promote excellence in nursing practice and patient care.
  • Develops and implements policies, patient education materials, and staff education to support quality and safety initiatives.
  • Participates in and leads clinical research and evidence-based practice changes.
  • Leads or participates in celebrating success in the Department of Nursing.
  • Serves on and/or leads departmental, divisional, or system-wide committees.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the CNL must have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and mentor nursing staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, clinical consultation, and staff education, as well as a strong understanding of quality and safety initiatives.
