Job Summary

As an Emergency Medical Transport Specialist at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in providing safe and timely transport of medical crew and patients from hospital to destination. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Transport patients and crew in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to North Carolina State Law, manufacturer's specifications, and UNC Health Wayne policies.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital, crew, and other medical personnel regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information.
  • Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report any abnormalities to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Ensure adequate fuel and maintain cleanliness of vehicles, as well as familiarity with vehicle safety manuals.
  • Complete logs, checklists, and reports related to activities, vehicle status, and maintenance.
  • Ensure equipment is in a state of mission readiness and correct or arrange for repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of road conditions and share knowledge with co-workers and other personnel.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
  • BLS Certification.
  • One (1) year of EMT experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
