Overview

LMI is in search of a Senior Audit Readiness Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (OASD(Sustainment)). This role is crucial in ensuring adherence to compliance and governance standards, facilitating the delivery and maintenance of essential capabilities for U.S. Service Members and allied forces. The position emphasizes a harmonious balance between logistics and sustainment priorities while fostering efficient financial and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee skilled personnel with the necessary technical expertise and comprehensive understanding of DoD audit readiness and asset management.
  • Conduct audit readiness and asset management evaluations to establish target states and assess the feasibility of integrating asset, logistics, and financial management databases for standardized reporting of materials.
  • Merge asset, logistics, and financial data sources for holistic reporting and assist the Government in adopting standardized processes that enhance asset accountability and supply chain operations.
  • Supervise skilled personnel with the requisite technical knowledge of DoD asset and material management requirements to support financial statement audits and audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal audit and accounting standards, Federal Laws and Regulations, Defense Logistics Management Standards, and DoD Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) guidelines regarding cost tracking, asset reporting, and expenditures.
  • Evaluate asset management systems for the Department of the Air Force (DAF), Department of the Navy (DoN), and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), including data structure and interface requirements.
  • Develop a framework that enables DAF, DoN, and DLA to effectively manage all F-35 assets.
  • Ensure Total Asset Visibility for all F-35 supply components through an approved DoD Accountable Property System of Record (APSR).
  • Identify existing policies, guidance, and processes for cataloging and provisioning F-35 commodities and equipment.
  • Engage with OASD(Sustainment) leadership and key stakeholders to monitor progress, address issues, and identify potential risks.
  • Translate complex technical information into actionable insights for senior leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in audit readiness or asset management within the DoD.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful audit readiness and remediation strategies that withstand independent public accounting scrutiny.
  • Experience in asset valuation and internal control design and implementation comparable to the F-35 program.
  • Familiarity with DoD FIAR guidelines and approved DoD APSRs such as the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS).
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (including Excel and SharePoint).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business field.

  • High energy, enthusiasm, and capability to interact effectively with clients at all levels within government and industry.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPA or DAWIA (Financial Management), CDFM are preferred.
