Senior Tax Accountant Opportunity

Pulakos CPAs, a reputable and independent CPA firm in Albuquerque, has been serving New Mexico businesses for over 60 years. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Tax Manager to contribute to our team.

Job Summary

This position involves more than just data entry or preparation. It's about developing essential technical skills and knowledge in tax management.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals, trusts, and various business entities.
  • Research and communicate complex tax issues to clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
  • Ensure clients comply with IRS regulations and meet their state and federal tax obligations.
  • Review client financial records, income statements, and expenditures.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 2-5 years of experience in a Tax Department of a Public Accounting firm or significant tax experience.
  • Tax return preparation experience for individuals, trusts, and various business entities.
  • Certified Public Accountant license preferred, but must be on track to becoming a CPA.
  • Ability to research and communicate complex tax issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to interact directly with clients while delivering high-quality service and maintaining positive client relationships.

  • Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Engagement Manager software
  • Checkpoint or other tax research software
