Life Enrichment Specialist
In collaboration with the Life Enrichment/Recreation Program Manager and in accordance with the operational guidelines of PACE Southeast Michigan, the Life Enrichment Specialist plays a vital role within the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). This position involves participating in the comprehensive clinical and social evaluations of each participant.
The Life Enrichment Specialist is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of diverse recreational activities, ensuring that all programs cater to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social needs of participants. This role requires a dynamic and innovative individual who exemplifies leadership and is committed to delivering exceptional quality of life experiences for all PACE participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the creation of the monthly activities schedule.
- Organizes, implements, and assesses daily activities and social interactions.
- Evaluates participant preferences and interests to develop meaningful programs that enhance their well-being, identity, growth, autonomy, and purpose.
- Ensures all documentation complies with PACE standards and regulations.
- Guarantees that all scheduled Life Enrichment programs are executed as per the monthly calendar.
- Demonstrates the capability to plan and establish recreational groups tailored to participant needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a full-time activity professional in a social or recreational setting is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation is preferred.
- Must hold a license or registration as an Activity Professional recognized by an accredited organization, such as The National Certification Council for Activity Professionals or The National Association of Activity Professionals.
- Completion of state-approved practicum supervision totaling 180 hours is mandatory.
- Experience working with frail or senior populations is essential.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage a high-volume workload effectively. Proficiency in writing care plans and conducting life/social history assessments is necessary.
- Must meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, as well as standing and walking for extended periods. Capability to transport wheelchairs to and from activity locations is required.
