We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiology Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Care. In this full-time position, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of patients and healthcare professionals.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative procedures. You will work under the administrative guidelines of the Department of Surgical Services and under the medical direction of the attending anesthesiologists of the Department of Anesthesiology.
ResponsibilitiesAssess patients pre-operatively in a timely and efficient manner, including performance of history and physical, development of anesthesia plan of care, documentation of assessment and plan, explanation of care, risks and benefits to patient and family, assembly of equipment and drugs.
Meet annual departmental quality metrics for turnover times, on-time starts, and QI submissions.
Attend continuing education and professional meetings, participate in institutional and departmental committees, and contribute to the clinical learning experience of other healthcare professionals.
Contribute to performance improvement by evaluating problem areas, planning and implementing measures to assure improvement in patient outcomes, assisting in collection of data, and participating in Impact Care activities.
Maintain anesthesia records, Impact Care reports, and other documents in a legible manner.
Provide anesthesia, including performing ASA-approved checklist of equipment, providing safe environment for patient, administering anesthesia in accordance with Department of Anesthesiology standards of care, placing appropriate lines and monitors, adjusting care, and notifying appropriate personnel in abnormal situations.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- Certified or eligible for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
