The Recreation Therapist - Integrative Modalities Specialist is a critical member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team at the Loma Linda VA Healthcare System. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced Recreation Therapist to provide comprehensive treatment interventions for patients with complex medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with a range of conditions, including PTSD, psychiatric conditions, substance abuse, traumatic brain injuries, vision impairments, geriatric conditions, and physical disabilities.
- Provide intensive case management services using Recreation Therapy interventions and services for patients.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and treatment for patients.
- Develop and lead Recreation Therapy programs and services, including evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Participate in local and national events to promote Recreation Therapy and its benefits.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
- At least two years of experience in Recreation Therapy, with a focus on physical medicine and rehabilitation.
- Advanced knowledge of best practice and evidence-based Recreation Therapy across multiple areas of practice.
- Ability to perform clinical services and balance organizational responsibilities while developing and implementing effective strategies.
This position requires regular and recurring physical exertion, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. The work may also require specific physical characteristics and abilities, such as above-average agility and dexterity.
