Safety Compliance Officer

Ziegler Industries, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Safety Compliance Officer to oversee safety initiatives within our organization. This role is crucial in implementing, managing, and evaluating safety programs, policies, and procedures that align with OSHA and other relevant regulations. The individual will conduct thorough inspections of facilities, equipment, and procedures to identify potential hazards and ensure the safety of all personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess safety measures implemented at various job sites
  • Facilitate safety training sessions for staff
  • Act promptly in emergency situations; prepare detailed reports and provide actionable recommendations
  • Review accident and incident reports to identify trends and suggest improvements to enhance safety
  • Conduct safety audits on-site to evaluate personnel, equipment, and materials; recommend corrective actions as necessary
  • Review and update safety procedures and policies to benefit employees and clients
  • Lead safety training programs for employees and contractors
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards (including OSHA, DOT, etc.)
  • Assist in investigations of injuries and incidents
  • Communicate findings to management
  • Help maintain accurate job site records related to training and corrective actions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety (Required)
  • 3-5 years of experience in Industrial Contracting (Preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred but not mandatory)
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English Preferred but not mandatory)
  • 3-5 years of MSHA experience (Preferred)

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the construction sector and a comprehensive understanding of the unique safety challenges present on construction sites. This position involves significant fieldwork.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations related to construction
  • Capability to train, influence, and motivate team members
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Adept at developing, implementing, and enforcing safety protocols
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies
  • Skilled in collaborating with diverse teams
  • Exemplary integrity and professional ethics
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
