Position Overview:
This role is a Hybrid opportunity, blending both in-office and remote work. Associates are expected to be present in the office for a minimum of two days each week while enjoying the flexibility of off-site work.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
- Facilitate and oversee the quality development of new components and the approval processes with suppliers to align with both customer and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments (Quality, Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing) to ensure timely delivery of sample parts, conduct internal evaluations, and secure necessary approvals.
- Lead supplier audits and the evaluation of new components.
- Assist in the selection process of suppliers.
- Manage APQP and PPAP processes for new components and suppliers.
- Oversee the assessment of new components to ensure compliance with customer and internal specifications.
- Provide training and support to suppliers to ensure they comprehend the expectations and quality system requirements of the organization.
- Evaluate component samples in the laboratory as required.
- Identify and track missing PPAPs for new projects; request and process PPAPs from suppliers.
- Investigate and monitor countermeasure activities for new suppliers and components.
- Maintain comprehensive records of supplier quality activities.
- Conduct various audits at supplier locations (including pre-production and new supplier audits). Travel may be required up to 30%, primarily within North America.
- Plan and implement strategies to ensure the quality of new components and materials developed and managed by the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required (BSEE or BSME preferred).
- 0-3 years of experience in Quality Engineering; experience in the automotive components sector is advantageous.
- Bilingual proficiency in English/Japanese or Spanish is preferred.
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Able to manage multiple tasks (product development, planning, component evaluation, documentation, etc.).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced level) and PowerPoint.
- Typing speed of at least 50 characters per minute.
