Key Responsibilities:
- Create an engaging learning atmosphere where students feel safe and are encouraged to take academic risks.
- Design and implement lesson plans and long-term objectives that are challenging, clear, measurable, and aligned with educational standards.
- Maintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students.
- Employ innovative teaching strategies to ensure all students are involved in meaningful and authentic learning tasks.
- Plan and execute differentiated instructional methods and resource access to stimulate higher-order thinking and deep reflection among students.
- Modify curriculum as necessary to provide individualized, small group, or direct instruction aligned with IEP requirements to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaboratively establish and consistently uphold standards for student behavior, assisting students in developing self-accountability strategies.
- Monitor student conduct in accordance with school policies and ethical standards.
- Engage in effective communication with colleagues, parents, and administrative staff.
- Develop and utilize various assessments to frequently evaluate student progress and offer multiple opportunities for students to showcase their advancement toward grade-level standards.
- Ensure students understand assessment and evaluation criteria related to their work and assessments.
- Provide timely, constructive, and impactful feedback to students.
- Thoughtfully collect and analyze data to guide instructional decisions and facilitate developmental discussions with students, families, and the broader school community.
- Maintain accurate and consistent records of student performance.
- Participate in grade-level and school-wide initiatives.
- Actively engage in professional development and coaching opportunities across the school and administration.
- Be prepared to undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- New York State Certification required.
- Preference given to candidates with dual certification (e.g., Students with Disabilities, Mathematics, Literacy).
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards.
- A commitment to high levels of student achievement.
- A dedication to continuous professional growth and development.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $65,000-$75,000.
- Comprehensive benefits package available.
- Opportunities for additional per session work.
- 10-month contracted position.
