Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Cardiology team at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing various medical procedures, and collaborating with our veterinarians to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physical exams, technician appointments, patient restraint, intravenous catheterization, and routine laboratory procedures.
- Acquire indirect blood pressure and collect blood, effusions, and urine by expression, cystocentesis, or catheterization.
- Administer and apply treatments, drugs, fluids, and medications by oral, parenteral, and injectable routes.
- Set up and assist with paracentesis, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram (ECG), interventional radiology procedures, electrocardioversion, and surgical procedures.
- Review Holtor monitor tracings and communicate with clients in person and via phone or email.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician qualification with active license.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a variety of personnel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and exhibit attention to detail.
- Understanding of advanced medical terminology.
This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces. You will also be required to wear protective gear, including a mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, and safety goggles.
