Aeronautics Professor Position

This is a part-time, temporary, hourly position without permanent status. The successful candidate will teach college-level aeronautics courses, including Primary Pilot Ground School, Introduction to Aviation Careers, Federal Aviation Regulations, Aviation Weather, and other aeronautics courses as needed. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience. The position requires a commitment to the community college goals and objectives, as well as personal qualities to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Teach a diverse population of aeronautics students through informed instructional methods.
2. Maintain current knowledge of the aviation discipline and of educational teaching methodologies.
3. Participate in aeronautics curriculum development, learning outcomes, and assessment.
4. Perform the duties of a professor and comply with the college's responsibilities for professors.
5. Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators in planning and administering aeronautics initiatives and programs.
6. Conduct office hours, complete college required paperwork, and respond to emails in a timely manner.
7. Teaching assignments may include late afternoons, weekends, and evening hours.
8. Teaching assignments may also include teaching college-level classes at a high school through dual enrollment programs.

Minimum Qualifications
A. The minimum qualifications for this position are any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing.
2. FAA Certification as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Flight Instructor.
3. No history of FAA certificate actions or FAA enforcement actions.
4. Teaching experience, classroom or remote instruction, at a college, in industry, or in government.
5. Evidence of awareness of the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity within the community college student population.

Candidates not holding the stated required qualifications who are requesting consideration based on an equivalency will need to answer the equivalency questions included in the application.

Conditions of Employment
The person holding this position is required to be present on Mt. San Antonio College's campus to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.
