Job Summary

The Payroll Administrator is a critical role that requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees, managers, and internal stakeholders. This position is responsible for processing the organization's payroll while maintaining accurate records to ensure correct and timely payment of employee wages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audit payroll information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions.
  • Prepare responses to notices from government agencies regarding employee tax filings.
  • Ensure that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
  • Calculate and process Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, union dues, and other deductions, insurance, benefits, pension/retirement, 401(k) contributions and company match, and profit sharing.
  • Screen time-worked inputs for calculating, coding, or other errors.
  • Monitor reports alerting of problems or errors and reconcile errors and maintain payroll records.
  • Review and process payroll adjustments, including vacation, sick and other time off.
  • Generate accrual entries, as required.
  • Field and respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related field.
  • 4+ years of previous payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
