Hospital Pharmacy Director

The Pharmacy Manager at Cardinal Health is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing all administrative and clinical activities in the pharmacy department. This includes supervising pharmacy technicians, monitoring staff activities, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Activities: Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates all clinical activities, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries, and dispatch of medicines.
- Administrative Activities: Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates all administrative activities, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance, and monthly reporting.
- Inventory Management: Implements process and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling, including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
- Staff Management: Manages day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
- Communication: Communicates with nursing, doctors, and administrative areas to provide alternatives and makes and/or supervises preparation of interveinal drugs.
- Certifications and Privileges: Maintains pharmacist's certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.
- Pharmaceutical Care: Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
- Inventory and Procurement: Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.
- Leadership and Development: Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
- Workflows and Optimization: Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
- Meetings and Committees: Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
- Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.
- Quality Assurance: Assumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Must be a "good standing" licensed Pharmacist in the state of Texas.
- IV certification required or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- 3+ years of hospital pharmacy and preferably hospital pharmacy management experience preferred.
- Ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
- Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
- Excellent planning, organizing, and leadership skills.
- Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
- Pressure to perform in emergency situations.
- Overall decision-making responsibility.
- Ability to work on call or be in an on-call rotation.
- Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of operations or business staff.

- Interactions normally involve information exchange and basic problem resolution.
