Neurosurgery Clinical Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Neurosurgery team at Stony Brook University Hospital. As a key member of our Neurocritical Care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and education to our patients and their families.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care to critically ill neurosurgical and neurological patients in our 1-bed closed Neurocritical Care unit.
- Monitor patient clinical status, deliver appropriate medical care, and effectively communicate with team members and collaborating teams.
- Perform common bedside procedures, such as placement of midlines, PICC lines, arterial lines, and central lines, as well as assisting with bronchoscopy and POCUS.
- Manage complex ventilator and airway care, perform comprehensive physical and neurological exams, diagnose and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory and radiological exams, and collaborate with attending physicians.
- Work rotating shifts, including days and nights, in a 13.33-hour schedule.
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program or Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- NYS licensure and certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- NCCPA certification or possession of certification by start date.
- NIHSS, ENLS, BLS, and ACLS certifications required upon hire.
- One year or greater experience as an APP in the emergency department or intensive care unit preferred.
