Job Title: Clinical Nurse Educator - Perinatal Center

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will play a vital role in facilitating the coordinated care of Perinatal patients in our Perinatal Center and in the hospital as in-patients.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Educator will assist patients in obtaining efficient and comprehensive clinical and supportive care as needed throughout their pregnancy. This role will deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery
Requirements:
  • Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity
  • Maintain current CPR certification
  • Valid RN Nursing License from the state of practice
  • Experience within a physician practice setting
  • Working knowledge of medical record format and content of patient records
  • Requires a working knowledge and understanding of the clinical, psychosocial and pathophysiology of pregnancy and its complications
  • Possesses ability to perform the range of nursing techniques, routine and non-routine
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a culturally diverse environment are required
  • Ability to review records, read physician documentation and verify patient identification
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with practice managers and other medical group staff/leadership
  • Work requires a high level of accuracy with the ability to concentrate on detailed information for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science, nursing
Work Environment:
  • The individual performing this job may anticipate possible contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials
  • Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies regarding infection control
  • Travel outside the office is required
  • Overnight travel on occasion to attend seminars and training
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights
  • May have periods of constant interruptions
