The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in the Emergency Department, administering the fundamentals of the nursing process by adhering to existing policies, procedures, and nursing care standards. This position contributes to nursing assessment and the development of nursing care plans, and participates in the ongoing evaluation of nursing care.
Key Responsibilities:- Obtains and documents nursing history from patients and/or significant others, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their present condition and prior problems.
- Performs patient assessments, utilizing knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to record vital signs, note changes, and pursue more-specific investigations as needed.
- Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports information to the physician and others caring for the patient, incorporating this information into the nursing care plan.
- Reviews and uses care plans as the basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients, including communication with the patient and their family and other members of the healthcare team.
- Evaluates and notes the patient's response to nursing care defined in the nursing care plan and medical records.
- Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients and assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development/growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
- Current RN license in the state.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role required; Emergency Department experience highly desirable.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
