Job Overview:
Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to join our team. As a Construction Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Inspecting all phases of construction on highway construction, bridge, and maintenance projects;
• Fostering a partnering relationship with contractors and other stakeholders;
• Monitoring the work of contractors to ensure quality control and compliance;
• Performing daily record keeping of project activities;
• Preparing monthly project estimates;
• Training and supervising trainee inspectors;
• Maintaining certifications such as VDOT or NICET Level II Soil and Aggregate Compaction, VDOT Asphalt Field Level I & II, and others.

About the Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• A high school diploma with a minimum of six years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology;
• Strong knowledge of mathematics and geometry;
• Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, and/or OneDrive;
• Ability to work independently and make decisions;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Working knowledge of roadway, structure, and bridge construction methods, materials, standards, construction symbols, and terminology;
• Certifications such as VDOT or NICET Level II Soil and Aggregate Compaction, VDOT Asphalt Field Level I & II, and others.

About the Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of approximately $70,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
