CNC Machinist - Gear Manufacturing

We are seeking a dedicated, full-time CNC machinist with expertise in programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and wire EDMs. Experience in gear manufacturing is highly desirable.

  • 1st Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • 2nd Shift: 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze machining tasks by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program multi-axis turning machines by inputting instructions (G&M code), including establishing zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
  • Calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; validate part programs.
  • Prepare machines by installing work holding devices (jaws and collets), tool holders, and tools.
  • Safely operate various material handling equipment.
  • Ensure settings are accurate by measuring positions, first-run parts, and adhering to established standards.
  • Uphold safety protocols by following safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain machinery by completing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions and irregularities.
  • Record actions by maintaining production logs.
  • Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications.
  • Contribute to organizational goals by taking ownership of new and diverse requests and seeking opportunities to add value to job performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of experience with gear-cutting machinery.
  • Strong conceptual skills and process development capabilities.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Functional and technical proficiency.
  • Proficient in G&M code programming.
  • Knowledge of controls and instrumentation.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Supply chain management experience.
  • Expertise in tooling.
  • Strong coordination abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment skills.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and OSP controls.
