Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Aide to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. As a Nurse Aide, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain and record vital signs, weight, height, intake, and output, and inform the Registered Nurse of findings.
  • Prepare patients for examination and/or special procedures and remain with them during the procedure if needed.
  • Observe patients' condition, mental state, and social behavior and report observations to the Registered Nurse.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding if necessary. Distribute nutritional supplements to patients and record on intake & output sheets.
  • Assist and accompany patients in admitting, discharging, and transfer processes, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Transport and accompany patients to and from the unit when necessary.
  • Keep the unit, utility rooms, treatment rooms, and storage rooms in a neat and orderly condition. Keep the dressing cart and clean utility room well stocked with supplies at all times. Check supplies for expiration dates, including surgical supplies.
  • Perform AM and PM care.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Designee.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from elementary school.
  • Successful completion of a basic skills training program for Nurse Aides, or its equivalent.
