About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Technician to join our team at Abbie's Safe Home, a part of the YWCA Pet Shelter in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

Job Summary

This is a PRN (as-needed) position, where you will cover shifts as needed. As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare and care of animals in our shelter, while also providing support to clients of the Domestic Violence Shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all animals in the shelter receive proper care and attention, including cleaning and maintaining kennels, feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
  • Maintain accurate records and files, including animal health and vaccination records.
  • Assist with transporting animals for veterinary care and administering medication as needed.
  • Perform general upkeep of the facility and grounds, including maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with animals, preferably in a pet shelter or rescue organization.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a clear driving record.
Salary Range

$35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience.
