About the Position

**Job Summary**

OPT FOR HEALTHY LIVING is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Computational Linguistics to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and other linguistics subfields, as well as developing new courses and contributing to the creation of curricula for a new bachelor of science degree in Applied Data Science with a track in Computational Linguistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and other linguistics subfields
  • Develop new courses in computational linguistics
  • Contribute to the creation of curricula for a new bachelor of science degree in Applied Data Science with a track in Computational Linguistics
  • Engage and participate in departmental, college, and university service and community
  • Develop and sustain a research program and produce scholarly work and creative activities focused on computational linguistics and/or other linguistics subfields

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Linguistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Training in both linguistics and computer science
  • Demonstrated potential or excellence in teaching at the college level
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly and creative activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with or interest in NLP research on understudied or marginalized languages or dialects
  • Experience with experimental methods
  • Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
