Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Genetics Counselor to join our team at Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will provide family history assessment and cancer genetic counseling for patients and families with cancer and/or at risk for cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct family history analyses and maintain pedigree records
  • Coordinate data and chart organization
  • Write and dictate consultation and summary letters to patients
  • Follow up with patients and respond to questions
  • Obtain informed consent and follow up with lab orders
  • Manage insurance pre-approvals and appeals
  • Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited Genetics Counseling training program
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics
  • Experience in cancer genetics counseling preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills and public speaking
