Position Overview

The Detroit Medical Center is currently in search of an Interventional Radiology Technologist.

Role Responsibilities

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will:

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced technology including CT, MRI, and Interventional Radiology.
  • Ensure patient safety by verifying identity and reviewing medical histories for exam appropriateness.
  • Engage with patients to explain procedures, including potential side effects and risks associated with pharmaceuticals.
  • Prepare and operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality images as per established protocols.
  • Analyze images, document any deviations from standard procedures, and relay findings to the radiologist.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies and provide post-procedure care instructions as directed by physicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
  • Educate residents, student technologists, and new staff on imaging practices.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required, and perform Radiologic Technologist responsibilities when necessary.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology.
  • Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association (AHA) by the end of the orientation period.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months for those in adult cardiology or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year for pediatric settings.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

  • Technical proficiency in operating specialized imaging equipment and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of accreditation standards set by the American College of Radiology.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks involving lifting, standing, and positioning patients.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for high-quality image production.
