Lactation Consultant IBCLC

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant to join our team at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide expert lactation support and education to new mothers and their families, helping them to establish a successful breastfeeding experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient support and teaching to patients, including those experiencing complex lactation problems.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care for breastfeeding families, actively involving them in the plan of care.
• Utilize the Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital breastfeeding policy when caring for breastfeeding families, and collaborate with the Breastfeeding Advisory Board to revise the policy as needed.
• Identify patient and family education needs, and collaborate with the Breastfeeding Advisory Board to develop and revise patient education materials for breastfeeding.
• Teach families according to approved materials to ensure consistency of information, and provide and identify additional resources as needed related to breastfeeding plans to assure readiness for discharge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Current Michigan Nursing License.
• International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
• Completes all mandatory in-services that apply to the role of the lactation consultant.
• Must follow IBCLE guidelines for continuing education to maintain IBCLC certification.
