About This Fellowship
This campus-based fellowship program provides participants with a comprehensive opportunity to learn and apply the core principles of field organizing in the context of climate advocacy. The program aims to delve into the integration and practical use of field strategies, including a series of campus organizing trainings, monthly event planning sessions, training on various digital platforms, techniques for effective coalition building, and other practical skills directly applicable to their career.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Climate Advocacy Field Organizer. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our State Field Director to deliver impactful community engagement activities, provide training and development opportunities, collaborate with team members, and regularly report on field activities and progress.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pursuing a career in field-related work, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to cultivate and manage partnerships and internal and external relationships. A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and bilingual skills is a definite plus. You will also be comfortable working remotely and as part of a small team, with the ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week and at least one Saturday per month for in-person engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Actively participate in community outreach and engagement activities.
- Training and Development: Attend monthly in-person training sessions, with transportation provided.
- Program content will include: Civic engagement, climate education and advocacy, campus organizing and field 101, mobilization and GOTV, data training and digital tools, and other relevant hard skills.
- Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with team members during in-person meetings and virtual engagements.
About the Benefits
As a Climate Advocacy Field Organizer, you will receive a stipend of $1k per month, plus travel expenses, and have the opportunity to explore earning college credits through this fellowship (advisory check with college required). Comprehensive training is provided, and a tablet is provided for program use. This program will start in July and end in November of 2024, based in the communities of Charlotte, Greensboro, and surrounding suburbs.
