Clinical Audit Nurse

In this role, the Medical Auditor operates under general supervision while adhering to established protocols, procedures, and professional standards. The primary responsibility includes conducting thorough reviews of medical records to verify the accuracy of patient billing and to ensure compliance with departmental charge policies. The auditor identifies recurring errors or trends and provides recommendations for corrective actions to departmental leadership. Additionally, this position serves as a representative of the hospital in matters concerning billing, documentation, and reimbursement with third-party payers, patients, and hospital staff. The Medical Auditor is expected to perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure with a minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience, or active LPN licensure with 3 years of auditing experience.
- Experience in medical auditing is preferred, along with certification as a Certified Medical Audit Specialist (CMAS) from the American Association of Medical Audit Specialists (AAMAS).
- Completion of the certification program is required within 2 years of employment.
