Position Summary:
At Little Sprouts Day Care Inc, preschool educators are entrusted with the nurturing, oversight, and instruction of a group of young children aged 2 to 5 years. The role involves adhering to the educational objectives and curriculum set forth by Little Sprouts. Staff members are expected to engage with children, devise action plans, implement daily activities, and assess the effectiveness of these activities in alignment with contemporary child development principles. Furthermore, maintaining open lines of communication with parents and contributing to the overall functionality of the educational center is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer child care routines in a timely and hygienic manner, consistent with sound child development practices, including hand washing, meals, napping, and transitions.
- Design and implement a comprehensive child development program that addresses the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child, based on the overarching goals and curriculum of Little Sprouts.
- Ensure children's safety through vigilant supervision, effective spatial arrangement, proper equipment maintenance, and regular emergency drills.
- Operate the classroom in accordance with all child care licensing regulations and the Little Sprouts Employee Policy Handbook.
- Foster a welcoming and collaborative environment where children and families feel secure and valued.
- Facilitate experiences that encourage individual expression through conversation, play, and creativity.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, children, and parents.
- Assist in the training of new staff and volunteers.
- Provide diverse language stimulation activities.
- Ensure parents receive sufficient information regarding their child's experiences through daily interactions and scheduled conferences.
- Keep written records via Brightwheel to evaluate each child's progress.
- Encourage and support parent-child bonding.
- Greet children and their families warmly each day.
- Initiate daily classroom activities such as sing-alongs, art projects, sensory exploration, and outdoor activities.
- Showcase children's artwork on bulletin boards, updating monthly as appropriate.
- Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional distress, or special needs, and report any concerns to the Director.
- Utilize equipment and supplies safely, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Inspect the facility and equipment for potential safety hazards, taking corrective actions or notifying the Director as necessary.
- Contribute to the center's operations by participating in staff meetings and sharing insights gained from professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and high standards across all classrooms.
- Implement curriculum in accordance with the Farm to Preschool practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Fully Qualified Teacher:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High School Diploma or GED
- 12 core semester units in early childhood education or relevant curriculum
- At least 6 months of experience in a licensed child care facility
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Cleared background check
- Current immunizations
- Completion of Mandated Reporter Training
Partially Qualified Teacher:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 completed semester units in early childhood education
- 3 semester units in infant care
- Enrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college/university until fully qualified
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Cleared background check
- Current immunizations
- Completion of Mandated Reporter Training
Teacher's Aid:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR/First Aid certification

- Must work under the supervision of a qualified teacher
