Diesel Technician/Mechanic - Mobile Refrigeration (Thermo-King/Carrier)



At Penske Logistics, we are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, overhauling, adjusting, and repairing all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with a primary focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all levels of maintenance services, with a focus on refrigeration unit maintenance, including Carrier and/or Thermo King commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.
  • Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to perform repairs.
  • Provide additional support for preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.


Requirements:

  • 6 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in refrigeration component overhaul required.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • 608/609 certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of necessary tools and equipment required.
  • Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment required.
  • Must understand and comply with Penske safety and maintenance policies.


This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation and requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
