About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural Graduate Engineer to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Fort Worth, TX.

As a Structural Graduate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of structural engineering tasks, including design, project coordination, and field reviews. You will be working under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer and will have the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in structural engineering principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop structural elements, including bridges, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures, for infrastructure and private development projects.
  • Manage and develop plans and models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Geopak, MicroStation OpenRoads Designer.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations and construction drawings for bridges, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures.
  • Identify and adhere to governing codes for structural design of various elements.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates/quantity takeoffs.
  • Field reviews and construction inspections.
  • Creation and submission of technical reports, presentations, exhibits, and design calculations.
  • Perform engineering calculations/analyses.
  • Coordinate with government entities, utility service providers, and subconsultants.
  • Manage task assignments for budget and schedule adherence.
  • Review and approve project submittals, RFIs, and support field activities during construction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Masters degree in structural engineering (highly preferred).
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience in structural engineering design.
  • EIT/FE certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year is preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (AASHTO LRFD, AISC 360, ACI 318, IBC, ASCE 7).
  • TxDOT familiarity and experience is a plus.
  • Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
  • Ability to apply structural engineering principles to design of various elements.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering software, such as Mathcad, STAAD, RISA, LPile, Midas, Sofistik, Leap Bridge Concrete, and SPcolumn.
  • AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting experience a plus.
  • Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others' work.
  • Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
