Buffalo Trace Distillery Overview

Job Summary

The Horticultural Supervisor oversees employees responsible for enhancements and daily maintenance of the Buffalo Trace grounds and arboretum. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the Buffalo Trace grounds and arboretum in show condition at all times, ensuring National Landmark status is upheld.
  • Overseeing the overall health of the Buffalo Trace plant collection and assisting with the horticultural maintenance program.

This role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to train and develop comprehensive cultural practice programs for technicians assigned to the work duties for the grounds. The Horticultural Supervisor will also assist with planning seasonal color and landscape enhancements, as well as execute public educational events and programs related to arboretum accreditation requirements.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $68,754 - $85,942. Placement within the salary range will be calculated based on years of directly relatable experience for the position.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree or higher in the field of horticulture from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in the horticultural field.

You should possess strong knowledge of plant species and ornamental horticulture, as well as excellent supervisory, training, and communication skills. Strong public engagement and speaking skills are also essential. Ability to work with a team, problem solve, and organize will be crucial in this role.

In addition, you should be able to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, and work in outdoor weather conditions. A strong attention to detail and drive for results are also required.
