Job Summary

This position is located within the Rehabilitation Services Branch of the Gallup Indian Medical Center and Tohatchi Health Care Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct occupational therapy evaluation and treatment, education, and consultation for inpatients and outpatients of all ages with a variety of conditions.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the occupational therapy program, including responsibilities for policies and procedures, quality assurance, risk management, and infection control.
  • Develop and direct a comprehensive occupational therapy program that addresses care and treatment of all diagnoses and all age levels.
  • Provide occupational therapy consultation, evaluation, and treatment to in and outpatients.
  • Address evaluation and treatment of the upper extremity, including expanded functional exercise programs, assistive technology, orthotic and prosthetic training and management.
  • Address pain control, restoration of function and meaningful activity, daily living skills, mobility issues, fitness and strength, balance and coordination, cognitive function, adaptive equipment, etc.
Requirements
  • A graduate or higher level degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
  • Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
  • Pass the national examination administered by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, performing program planning, monitoring, and adhering to established occupational therapy performance.
Working Conditions

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. No government housing available. This position has no promotional potential. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. A service agreement will be required.

The Indian Health Service (IHS), National Health Service Corps (NHSC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) have student loan repayment programs for qualifying health disciplines.
