Position Overview

Responsible for daily dispatch operations, load optimization, and route management to ensure superior service levels. Acts as the primary contact for customers, with a significant emphasis on DOT regulations and safety adherence, overseeing preventative maintenance, KPI tracking, and payroll verification. Focus on driver development for retention purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients or supervisory staff to resolve inquiries, issues, or equipment needs.
  • Oversee driver and personnel utilization to synchronize service and schedules.
  • Provide coaching to drivers in areas such as employee retention, customer satisfaction, safety awareness, and workers' compensation management.
  • Schedule or dispatch drivers to designated locations based on customer requirements, utilizing Qualcomm devices or telecommunication.
  • Address customer inquiries or service requests in collaboration with supervisory personnel.
  • Prepare daily operational and routing schedules.
  • Advise staff regarding traffic challenges, including construction zones, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, or other hazards.
  • Coordinate necessary repairs to maintain service and schedules.
  • Communicate essential information to drivers, including load details, advances, maintenance coordination, performance feedback, and safety protocols.
  • Manage a designated fleet of vehicles and drivers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries, compliance with service hours, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure drivers understand customer and company expectations thoroughly.
  • Maintain daily records of all assigned vehicles and drivers.
  • Engage daily with drivers, operational staff, and management through Qualcomm, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Recommend and suggest disciplinary actions, terminations, and hiring decisions.
  • Oversee the monitoring of personnel and driver utilization to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Manage the scheduling and dispatching of drivers according to customer needs, maintaining high service levels and tracking capabilities.
  • Facilitate communication within the assigned customer base, fostering relationships through meetings and personal interactions.
  • Ensure driver logs are accurately completed and maintained.
  • Supervise the scheduling of vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain and present KPIs both internally and to customers.
  • Document and keep records of customer requests, services rendered, charges, expenses, driver discipline, and other dispatch-related information.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for employees.
  • Plan and implement backhaul strategies according to account specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies regarding fatigue, cell phone usage, and timely reporting of incidents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the transportation sector.
  • 5+ years of experience in talent development for management roles.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a Profit and Loss statement.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong skills in relationship building.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Robust customer service orientation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
