Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Social Worker - Wage (No Benefits). This role is responsible for providing support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, advocating on their behalf, and ensuring they receive the benefits and services they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between reimbursement staff and SEVTC staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination of services.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals with intellectual disabilities to ensure they receive the benefits and services they need.
  • Provide counseling and support to individuals and their families as needed.
  • Collaborate with LDSS workers to determine needed verifications and ensure timely completion of Medicaid Renewal packets.
  • Communicate effectively with Reimbursement, Authorized Representatives, and Fiscal to provide requested verifications and respond to changes in Medicaid benefits.
  • Verify eligibility with monthly benefit spreadsheet from Reimbursement and ensure timely completion of Medicaid and Social Security forms.
  • Assist new admissions with Medicaid application and complete forms for Medicaid upon individual's return to SEVTC from skilled nursing facility.
  • Work independently to maintain quality performance and organization of multiple tasks in a busy office environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • Two years' experience as a paid Social Worker, especially experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google G Suite.
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency with data entry and database management.

Benefits

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a comprehensive benefit package to include your choice of four health insurance plans, paid life insurance, and retirement plans. However, this position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits.
