We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Therapy Tech IV to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in providing specialized care to Texans in need.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of a planned and assigned program of rehabilitative therapy.
- Provide guidance and training to other staff members, including new rehabilitation staff.
- Assist in the training of all new rehabilitation staff and provide guidance as needed.
- Operate a state vehicle and transport patients, as assigned.
- Assure the correct number of vans are reserved in a timely fashion for all off-campus trips.
- Assure a thorough vehicle check is completed before taking the vans off-campus.
- Assure all staff and patients are safely seated and their seat belts are buckled before leaving campus.
- Assure all driving logs are completed according to agency policy.
- Attend meetings and complete special projects and assignments, as directed.
- Assure equipment and supplies are maintained and replaced as needed.
- Assure all equipment and supplies used by the rehabilitation department are in good working condition by doing weekly checks.
- Obtain approval for all purchases from the department director.
- Assure all new equipment is inventoried and stored appropriately.
- Assure all equipment is checked out and checked in.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques used in providing rehabilitation activities and services, and of mental illness and mental disabilities.
- Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skills in utilizing computer hardware and software.
- Skills in the use of equipment, tools, and materials used in therapeutic service activities.
- Ability to use necessary equipment to carry out rehabilitation activities.
- Ability to evaluate a patient's level of participation in programming.
- Ability to document progress and behavior appropriately.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, family members, and staff.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to instruct and train others.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances. The Rehabilitation Therapy Tech IV must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff.
